Signs of Life

Since Spring has arrived and the temperatures have slowly been climbing, small green buds have started to poke out of the flower bed along the side of house. They have sprouted ridiculously fast over the last few days. This being our first Spring in our house, it is a surprise to see what will bloom from these stems. I am waiting patiently to see what will appear... tulips perhaps?!?!

Swingin'

Edward got me a swing for our front porch as my birthday present. Yes, I know my birthday was six months ago, but there was no point in getting it then with snow in the near future. We finally ordered it this week and Edward picked it up from Lowes. He put it together and hung it up for me today. I love, love, love it!!! Our front porch is now complete with two rockers and a swing. I enjoyed our new purchase for a bit this afternoon while Edward had a beer in the rocking chair. Except I can't swing for too long...makes me a little nauseous. Oopps....

Going Batty

Things were "batty" around here tonight. There was a bat scare. Yes, a bat scare.

Edward went down to the basement and minutes later he was yelling, "There's a bat in the basement! Shut the door!" I ran screaming to close the door between the kitchen and the stairs to the basement. "What do I do?" he shouted (trapped in the basement with the bat).

Here's what happened: he went into the basement to get some tools. Just as he turned on the light near his work bench, he saw something flutter out of the corner of his eye. He turned and saw the bat flying all over the basement like a lunatic! After a few laps of the basement (and Ed protecting himself with only a Rubbermaid bin lid), it landed near the circuit breaker box. Once things had calmed down, Ed got the broom hanging down in basement, hoping to get a chance to swat at the flying rodent. But when he went to approach where he last saw the bat... it was gone. He thinks it somehow crawled behind the wooden plank that the circuit breaker box is mounted on. After 20 minutes of flashlight searching and broom swatting, we came to the conclusion that either the bat escaped back outside...or found a better place to hide.

I had to call my parents and sister to tell them the bat situation. My mom was laughing and my dad told me to have a good night sleep. My sister was screaming as she has had a similar bat experience. My nephew Carter got on the phone because he wanted to know why his mommy was screaming. I told him we had a bat in the basement...and he preceded to tell me that maybe it was a vampire bat and if it bites us we could get a disease. AAAHHHHHH!!!

I am now laying in bed, with the door shut (like that's going to help anything since I learned they can fit through a space the size of a quarter), wishing I had a big net over my bed. What if that thing is still in the house and it lands on my head in the middle of the night?!?! Don't think I'll be sleeping very good tonight or going down into the basement for a while. Goodnight all...

Part of Edward's birthday gift was tickets to see LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Boston Celtics. It was my first NBA game, and boy was it fun! I've been to hockey, football and baseball games and this was by far the most exciting professional sports game I've been to! You put a DJ, good tunes and nonstop crowd participation under one roof and I'm in. Best of all, it was throwback game day...throwback uniforms, graphics on the scoreboard, and 80's intro and hairdo's on the players. Oh yeah, LeBron was freakin' awesome to see in person.

We also hit up the Sabres game on Friday night with my sister and brother-in-law. It was great to spend the night with just the two of them...which doesn't happen often. Minus being smoked out of Benchwarmers Sports Bar, it was a fun night out. I also have to make mention of the greatest parking spot in America found by my husband. Super close to HSBC and it was FREE!!! I should have taken a picture of this spectacular parallel parking job as well. Unbelievable!

I didn't realize the photographer went around snapping shots of our wedding guests if she saw a group of them and they were willing to pose for a quick sec. It looked like everyone was having a great time! There were tons of pictures taken of our family and friends and these are only a few (please don't think you're not important if you aren't in the following photos). We were so happy that so many people were able to share our special day with us. Thanks again!!! Phew....that was a lot of uploading photos. I swear I'm done posting wedding pics after this:)

Dance Floor Mayhem

I have to say we had quite the dance floor at our wedding...good crowd, good music, good times. Edward and I danced the ENTIRE night together and had a blast! I was very selective in sharing my dance photos. Trust me there were many more, but I thought if I posted all of them, those people who were caught tearing up the dance floor would not be very happy with me sharing them with the blogging world. Our choice destination for photos was Forest Lawn Cemetery. Yes, I know it sounds creepy to go to a cemetery on your wedding day, but this place has gorgeous trees and landscaping. Edward and I visited it quite often during our frequent walks around the city and knew it would make the perfect spot for pictures for our fall wedding. It just so happened that our wedding weekend was definitely during the "peak" for foliage, too. We were surrounded by golden trees... in the black and white photos the trees look snow-covered because they were so full of leaves. I think having the headstones in some of the pictures symbolizes"...till death do us part."

So I know you're probably sick of looking at pictures of Edward and I (that's what happens when it's just the two of us because we didn't do the whole wedding party thing and only had a best man and maid of honor). Sorry, only one more day left of us.
