Congrats to Jay and Michelle who were married on Saturday. It was a great affair with lots of dancing...my dogs were barkin' by the end of the night.
It was our final wedding of 2010, making our grand total for this year (drumroll please)....nine weddings!!! Since Edward and I have been together we have been to a total of 23 weddings in the last four years! We already have two lined up for 2011, too! I've been told I should write a book about all of our weddings...maybe someday.
Oh my goodness!!! It has officially been one year since I wrote my first blog post. And what a year it has been! I really have enjoyed blogging the memories of our first year of marriage. It was fun to look back at all the posts I've written over the last year and I couldn't have imagined a better one. Blogging has definitely become a favorite hobby of mine...a little escape from work, chores and life. I look forward to my time on the computer to update the blog and check out other fellow bloggers... I do admit it can be addicting. I plan to continue blogging and see where the next year takes us. It's great to hear friends and family say how much they enjoy checking in on our happenings and whereabouts. They also get nervous when they don't see any updates after a few days. I hope all the peeps out there will stick with me as I try to make my way through another year of blogging!!!
And oh yeah...I am proud to say Edward and I are still not on Facebook! Even though we have at least three people a week tell us we need to join, we still boycott. Hopefully we won't succumb to peer pressure. To quote our neighbors, "No wonder you two get so much done around your house, you're not on Facebook."
The traditional first anniversary gift is supposed to be paper. Well, Edward and I didn't want to follow tradition this year so we decided to get each other new iPhones. Edward still had the first generation iPhone and I was ready to finally get my own after years of tinkering with his. They were something we both really wanted and we had been saving up to purchase them. Edward was able to get his a few weeks ago, but I had to wait till last week because of my "upgrade date." Let me just say that they are awesome!!!
Now we can stay even more connected with each other...aww.
I just have to share the lovely card my husband got me....so him!!! I made his out of pieces of our save the date, wedding invitation and program.
Edward and I decided to celebrate our first anniversary a little on Saturday (the same Saturday we were married in 2009) and a little on Sunday (the 24th being the actual date of our anniversary). We tried to incorporate as many things about us and our wedding day.
We started by doing something we LOVE. If you haven't realized yet, we are big fans of taking walks/hikes. We packed a picnic and our gear and headed to Letchworth State Park to check out the fall foliage. I wasn't too sure about how the weather was going to be, so I came prepared with two different pairs of boots, gloves, hat, scarf, and a fleece. The layers came off the longer we hiked. We tackled two trails while we were there. We hiked the popular trail along the gorge and then another that went into the woods. I think we hiked about 20 miles in all...at least that's what it felt like.
Saturday night we had dinner reservations at Salvatore's Italian Gardens. Edward and I thought that since our reception was held there, it was a natural we have our first anniversary dinner there. The place was decorated to the nines with everything fall...just like it was for our wedding. We walked around while we were waiting for our table and even poked our heads into a wedding or two. As we were eating dinner we witnessed a couple get engaged! There at the table next to us, the guy got down on his knee and proposed. The whole dinning room started clapping. I have to admit, it was a little strange because there they were, just engaged, and they had to go back to eating their dinner like nothing had happened. Good thing Edward knew never to propose to me that way...haha. After dinner, we headed into the city to get a drink at Toro like old times.
Edward and I still belong to Blessed Sacrament in the city where we got married and drive there as much as we can for mass. Even though we have a church that we could walk to at the end of our street, we still love this church. It was nice that we were able to attend mass on Sunday for our anniversary. It was great to see our priest and the woman who sang at our wedding. Afterwards, we took a drive through Forest Lawn where we had our wedding photos taken.
Our Sunday dinner was accompanied by a bottle of wine from Pellar Estates that we had been saving from our mini honeymoon getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake after our wedding last year. The table was even decorated with our Tiffany candle sticks (given as a wedding gift) and our Korean serving dish. So you're supposed to keep the top of your wedding cake and eat it on your first anniversary, but if you remember this post here, our cake top didn't last more than a week after our wedding. Instead, I made a peanut butter and white chocolate chip oatmeal cookie heart.

I love that when I'm off in the summer you kiss me goodbye every morning while I'm still passed out in bed. (I may not respond, but I feel your kiss every morning.) I love that we take nightly walks together around our neighborhood and look at all the houses.
I love that you are OCD about certain (many) things. I love that you love Apple. I love that your family is awesome. I love that you think my family is awesome. I love that you push the cart when we go grocery shopping.
I love that we can compromise on things. I love that you make the phone calls for me. I love that you call me by nicknames a lot. I love that you sleep on the edge of the bed freezing because I am hogging all the covers and the bed. I love that you are already thinking about your next meal while you are still eating the present one. I love that you tell me I look beautiful, even at times when I clearly don't. I love that you kill the bugs in the house.
I love that you like staying in on Friday nights. I love that you left me at the unity candle at the alter and everyone in the church laughed when Father Paul told you to go get me. I love that you drum on your steering wheel and blast your tunes when you're driving. I love that you try and stay calm during stressful situations. I love that you accept that I'm not always listening to you.
I love that we spend our weekends together. I love that you take care of me when I am sick.
I love that you challenge me to face my fears.
I love that you wear stupid T-shirts.
I love that you collect Rogue beer bottles.
I love that you want to eat pizza for every meal.
I love that you fill up my water bottle every morning.
I love that you help me find my keys and cell phone because I never remember where I put them.

Edward is away for the weekend with some of his best buddies from college. They are at the World Beer Festival in Raleigh, NC. Looks like they are having a good time (this is the photo that was sent to me today...oh boy). I love my hubby dearly and miss him lots, but I'm not gonna lie, it is nice to have a weekend all to myself. I had a lazy Friday night, the bed ALL TO MYSELF and a whole day of shopping with my sister Molly. I better hide all the packages and clean up this house or do some laundry before Edward comes home tomorrow so it looks like I did something productive around here.
and Edward's Toyota story is that the Prius hit a hundred thousand!!! Edward sure does love his Prius. From the miles driven to the road trips taken, we've had some wonderful, fun, happy, not-so-happy, crazy, relaxing drives in the Pruis. I hope she's still drivin' strong for a few more (or many) years.
Gosh that i-phone always comes in handy. Not sure how safe it was for Edward to video while he was driving??? Thank god I wasn't in the car.
